WHAT CAMPING CENTERS ARE INCLUDED?
Camping Literacy Centers
- Middle Sound Clip Cards – Students say the name of each camping-themed picture and clip the missing vowel sound. Then they write the vowel on their response sheet. (focus: middle sounds, short vowels)
- Sentence Building Pocket Chart – Students use word cards to build simple camping sentences (e.g., We need to pack a flashlight). They copy and illustrate their sentence on a response page. (focus: sentence structure, vocabulary)
- Initial Sound Magnet Sort – Students sort cards by beginning sound on a cookie sheet or magnetic surface. Then they write or color the correct initial sound on their response page. (focus: phonemic awareness)
- Read, Build, Write Sensory Center – Students read an initial blend word, build it with magnetic letters or tiles, and write it using a dry-erase marker. (focus: blends, word building)
- CVC/CVCe Write the Room – Students walk the room to find camping word cards, read each word, and write it next to the matching picture. (focus: decoding, short and long vowels)
Camping Math Centers
- Number Order Clip Cards – Students identify and clip the missing number in a sequence up to 20. Then they write or trace numbers to 20 on their recording sheet. (focus: number order, fine motor)
- Color by Code – Students use number codes to color camping-themed images while practicing number recognition or simple equations. (focus: number recognition, addition/subtraction)
- Comparing Numbers – Using manipulatives like cubes or counting bears, students compare two numbers and record which is bigger. (focus: greater than/less than)
- Missing Numbers to 50 – Students complete number sets using number cards and write the missing numbers up to 50. (focus: number sequencing)
- Number Writing with Manipulatives – Students count goldfish crackers or other small manipulatives, then write the number using a dry-erase marker. (focus: one-to-one correspondence, number formation)
