Make weather lessons fun and hands-on with this Weather Science Lapbook. This interactive weather activity helps students explore the types of weather, cloud formations, and basic weather tools through engaging, visual components.
Students build their own weather lapbook as they learn about sunshine, rain, clouds, temperature, and more. It’s perfect for science centers, whole group instruction, or weather units in Kindergarten through first grade.
WHAT YOU’LL GET IN THIS WEATHER SCIENCE LAPBOOK:
Lapbook Cover
Have your learners color and cut the cover page. Fold a large piece of construction paper or file folder where the ends go to the center. Glue the cover page on the top and cut down the middle after the glue dries.
Weather Title
Have your learners color and cut the weather title. Glue the title on the top of the inside of the lapbook (matching the hands on the cover before gluing).
Weather Chart
Have your learners the Weather Chart to the center of the lapbook. Fold and glue the wind gauge and attach a small paperclip, cut a slit and insert the thermometer and add brads to connect the arrows to the chart. (print on cardstock and in color if possible)
Types of Weather
Have your learners color, trace each type of weather color in hot and cold on the thermometer and glue the pages to create a book on the left wing of the lapbook.
Severe Weather
Have your learners color, trace each type of weather and glue the pages to create a book on the left wing of the lapbook.
Weather Words
Have your learners trace the weather vocabulary and glue the Weather Words pocket on the left wing of the lapbook. Insert the weather cards when it is dry.
Types of Clouds
Have your learners glue the title and Types of Clouds flip charts on the right wing of the lapbook. Match the correct cloud description or write your own under the flaps.
Meteorologist Writing
Have your learners draw and write what they would do if they were a meteorologist for a day.
