Fall is my favorite season of the year. I love all the colors that come as the weather turns cooler. I decided to create a fun fall book that show so many colors of fall. This emergent reader is great to bring the colors of fall into the classroom.
Sight Words
When creating emergent reader for the thematic packs I try to incorporate sights. This fall book includes the sights words: I, a, see and the color words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, brown, and black.
Small Group or Whole Group
It is no surprise that emergent readers are perfect to use in small groups. Having learners look at the pictures in the text. Make prediction based on the title. And looking for familiar words is such a fun way to engage little ones during small groups.
But this fall book is great for whole group, too. After reading a nonfiction fall book have learners go back to the text to find the different colors of fall. Review color words while learning an oh-so-important reading strategy if great for learners to experience.
Traceable Text
This free fall emergent reader has one feature that is even more engaging for you learners. Traceable text. Whether your learners use markers or colored pencil have them trace the color words in the fall book.
Matching the color writing utensil to the color word helps littles ones learn their color words. Plus what learners doesn’t love to write (or trace) in color?
