A fun, interactive way to learn all things bugs is by using this Bugs and Insects Lapbook!
This lapbook includes resources to teach a bug unit to your learners. Use the included book list and any other resources to facilitate the lapbook which covers insect life cycle, anatomy of an insect, categories of bugs and more!
Here is what you’ll get:
Lapbook Cover
Have your learners color and cut the cover page. Fold a large piece of construction paper or file folder where the ends go to the center. Glue the cover page on the top and cut down the middle after the glue dries.
Bug Title
Have your learners color and cut the bug title. Glue the title on the top of the inside of the lapbook (matching the worm on the cover before gluing).
Life Cycle of a Bug
Have your learners complete this chart by gluing the stages of the life cycle in the correct spot. Cut out both circle and attach using a brad. Glue on the center of the lapbook.
Categories of Bugs
Have your learners color, cut and glue the book to the top of the left ‘wing’ of the lapbook. Read the categories together and have your learners draw their own roly poly or other myriapod.
Catching Bugs
Have your learners glue the pocket on the bottom of the left ‘wing’ of the lapbook. They may trace the words and color the pictures of different bugs to add to their bug jar.
Bugs Can, Have and Are
(Print pages 6 and 7 front and back) Have your learners color, cut and glue the flap book on the top right ‘wing’ of the lapbook. Create a chart together or work as a group to complete the chart.
Parts of an Insect
Have your learners color and label the anatomy of an insect. Glue on the bottom right ‘wing’ of the lapbook.
Create Your Own Bug
Have your learners create their own bug. They may draw their bug in its environment and complete the boxes below to describe their bug.
