The Free Penguin Short Vowel Literacy Center supports early phonics and foundational reading skills and aligns with Common Core, TEKS, and Early Learning Guidelines for preschool and kindergarten students.

COMMON CORE – ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS (KINDERGARTEN)

  • RF.K.2.D: Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in spoken single-syllable words.

  • RF.K.3.B: Associate the long and short sounds with common spellings for the five major vowels.

  • RF.K.3.C: Read common high-frequency words by sight and decode regularly spelled words.

TEKS – ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS (KINDERGARTEN)
